While you’re on Sanibel the quaint tropical-vacation lifestyle you experience on your vacation won't be complete without a slow walk along the islands' 15 miles of beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. Coastal Living magazine has named these beaches among its top 10 romantic beaches in the country. We enjoyed looking around at the fascinating seashells but the fabulous sunsets are something you won’t want to miss either. You can enjoy it all with a beautiful vacation rental unit or townhouse just like we did.
There are plenty of reasons someone might visit Sanibel Island among them are the warm weather, the white-sand beaches, exotic wildlife, and a vast expanse of natural preserves. After all, it’s a world-famous resort island right next to Captiva Island! But when you go there and you’re seeking Sanibel Island lodging give Blind Pass Condominium and look. We think you’ll love it. We did. We choose this Sanibel Island lodging because it was central to all we wanted to do. First, we spent time biking and then touring the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge. There are landmark attractions to be seen there that include museums, nature centers, live theater, galleries and the famous Sanibel Lighthouse. We spent quite a bit of time shopping in the islands' specialty shops, boutiques, and gift stores spending all the money we saved on our lodging.

As a family we’ve decided to start making our own new traditions and this is one of them. This is no longer going to be a holiday that means a whole lot of cooking and cleaning for Mamma and will, instead, be about being one with nature and showing our gratitude for all we have while fully appreciating our fore fathers arrival to this country. We found a really nice place to stay from among the many Outer Banks vacation rentals that ShorelineOBX had on their website. I really enjoy the convenience of being able to look at Outer Banks vacation rentals right from the comfort of my living room while enjoying my coffee. The kids are pretty excited – heck we’re all pretty excited – about the trip. Whether or not we have a turkey dinner remains to be seen but my guess is we’ll go out to an area restaurant or resort and find one there to enjoy. That’s plenty fine by me too because standing in the kitchen all day is not my idea of a fun time. I found two turkey trots for Thanksgiving morning so I’m going to suggest to my family that we do one of them. The 4th Annual Outer Banks Gobbler 5k & Little Giblet Fun Run will take place from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22 at Nags Head Village. Call 252-305-1002 for information. A great warm up for your Thanksgiving feast is the Advice 5 Cents Turkey Trot! Starts at 9 a.m. on Nov. 22 on Scarborough Lane in Duck with a finish line full of post race festivities. Runners and walkers of all abilities and ages are welcome. This time of year there’s a huge draw for people to visit the mountain areas to enjoy the colorful foliage that autumn brings.
